TW Steel Creates David Coulthard Timepiece
TW Steel, the Dutch brand specializing in oversized timepieces, used the magnificent setting of Monte Carlo to launch the all new TW Steel David Coulthard Special Edition watch on Friday. Coulthard, a two-time winner of the Monaco Grand Prix and a resident of the Principality, joined TW Steel onboard their yacht to showcase their latest offering and the first models to make up the new CEO Tech Collection.
Available in 44mm (CE4001) and 48mm (CE4002) executions, the TW Steel David Coulthard Special Edition reflects the Scot’s passion for detail, while offering a bold, sophisticated look which perfectly captures the luxurious associations that come from his involvement in one of the world’s most glamorous and appealing sports – motor racing.
The 40-year-old, a TW Steel ambassador since last May, will again compete in the German-based DTM Series in 2011, racing for Team Mücke Motorsport, while he also serves as a Formula One commentator for BBC Television – using his unique insight as a 13-time Grand Prix winner having raced for Williams F1, McLaren-Mercedes and Red Bull Racing in 15 seasons in the sport.
“I’m thoroughly enjoying working with TW Steel as an ambassador so I guess it was only natural that the next step was to produce a watch together,” stated Coulthard. “I think the end result is certainly one that maintains TW Steel’s bold appeal while it perfectly reflects my own appreciation for subtle yet distinctive styling. To be launching it in Monaco is extra special given my successes here but it is also fitting considering this is an appealing, high-end watch!”

The David Coulthard edition is the first in the new CEO Tech Collection, a range intended to be truly elite amongst the already exclusive TW Steel CEO family. This is evidenced already in the new executions with both the 44mm and 48mm models featuring sandblasted steel cases. In addition, the bezel incorporates PVD dark titanium coating, also sandblasted for a richer finish. Further enhancing the elegant look of the watch is the shine-finish on the side of the bezel along with that of the push-buttons and mid-piece crown.
These features enrich the appeal of the watch with this refined timepiece complimented further by a sleek grey dial, sporting Coulthard’s name, off-set by bold red numbering on the chronograph and tachymeter with a similarly coloured second-hand. The watch also incorporates a sapphire crystal, grey leather Italian strap and is water resistant to 10ATM.
